Best Roth IRA Investments

Finding where to get the best Roth IRA rates?

To begin with, remember that a Roth IRA is not an investment option you can invest in. It's just a special retirement account and you have to decide which investments to put in your Roth IRA.

Therefore, to find the best Roth IRAs, you need to search for the best investment options or providers. Actually, most investment options are available for a Roth IRA account. But every investor makes a different decision. What's the point? The answer for the best Roth IRA depends on your investment goals and risk tolerance.

If you are not familiar with financial planning process, you may have to get a professional opinion from your financial advisor to know your risk tolerance. You can get some help from major financial institutions' websites. It's very important for you to do this before making any investment decisions. If you know exactly what type of investor you are, then you can choose the best investment for your Roth IRA.

Here are some investment options to consider as you determine what to put in your Roth account.

  • Certificate of deposit (CDs) A CD is a time deposit that gives the bank the right to hold your money for fixed period of time. And, in exchange, the issuing bank pays you interest, typically higher than a regular savings account. Generally, CDs are considered to be the safest type of investment. If you are very conservative and looking for a low-risk investment, CDs may be a right option for you.
  • Mutual funds A mutual fund is a security that pools money from many investors to invest it in stocks, bonds, or other securities for its portfolio. Every mutual fund has a specific investment objective. So you need to select a mutual fund based on your investment goal and risk tolerance.
  • Stocks Stock represents a partial ownership in a corporation through the purchase of shares of that corporation. Because stocks offer the highest potential return but are the most volatile in terms of potential for loss, they are considered a riskier investment than cash or bonds.
  • Bonds A bond is a loan to a corporation or government entity which pays you a fixed interest. They carry a modest level of risk depending on the issuer.
  • Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) An ETF is an investment traded on stock exchanges, much like stocks. It works similar to a mutual fund but, unlike a traditional mutual fund, it's valued in real time, instead of being priced at the end of the day. Most ETFs track an index, such as the S&P 500 and they may be attractive because of their low costs, tax efficiency, and stock-like features.
  • Annuities An annuity is a financial contract that provides a periodic payment of income over a long period of time. It offers tax-deferred growth of earnings and a death benefit that will pay your beneficiary a guaranteed minimum amount.
  • Real estate Law does not prohibit opening a Roth IRA in real estate but most providers do not offer that option. Therefore, you need to find a custodian that specializes in real estate IRA.
